To to prepare for your discovery call —Part 1

I'm excited to offer free 15-minute consult calls to both potential and existing clients.

For potential clients, we’ll discuss your specific goals, see if we're a good fit, and explore ways we can collaborate. Feel free to come prepared with any questions for me too. All information you share will be kept confidential.

My goal is to get to know you and build a good foundation for a relationship moving forward.

Questions I’ll ask you

  1. Tell me about your current copy needs?
This is an open question for you to share your current situation, copy needs and goals. We’re defining your project. We may dive into the specifics here on the exact things you need too e.g. if you need website copy, is that a one-page, five-page or fifty-page website.

  2. What do you hope to achieve by working with me/a copywriter?
Building on the first question, we want to make sure our expectations line up and that what I can do for you as a copywriter is what you need to move you to your goals.

  3. What is your mission and why did you start your business?
We want to know what lights you up, what you’re passionate about and why this matters. This is essential to make sure we resonate with the work you do and can stand by your side to promote it to it’s fullest.

  4. Who is your ideal customer?
Everything comes back to the customer, so it’s important we know who we’re writing for.

  5. What have you tried already (if anything)?
If you have worked with other copywriters, share that experience. If you have struggled to DIY, tell us more about that. We love to understand what you’re struggling with the most so we can alleviate that pain in your business.

  6. What is your timeline? i.e. When do you want to start/finish by?
We want to understand if we can support you in the time you have in mind. Creating a long-form sales page and a dozen emails in 2-days isn’t going to happen, but we can help manage expectations here so you know what can happen by when.

  7. Why me?
We love to know what in particular piqued your interest in working with me? Think about what stood out to you or how you heard about us.

You’ll have a chance to ask questions before we discuss the next steps to get the project started. This will often be a custom proposal or an agreement to sign.
